Unexpected Detours: Smooth sailing through rocky waters

Transportation leaders from around Maine and the country will gather virtually for the 70th Maine Transportation Conference that begins Tuesday, December 1 at 3 p.m. This year, more than 400 transportation professionals throughout the region will participate in a series of live and pre-recorded sessions addressing a range of technical and policy topics, including how the industry is continuing its “essential” work during the pandemic.

The conference keynote speaker Carol Martsolf, vice president and chief learning officer of Urban Engineers, will speak on December 1 at 3:30 p.m. about Navigating the Sea of Change: We all rise together. Other speakers include former White House Chief of Staff and New Hampshire Governor John Sununu and Jim Tymon, executive director of the American Association or State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). At 11 a.m. tomorrow, conference co-host, the Maine Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), will release its 2020 Infrastructure Report Card.
